Introducing Ploughboy Organics
Ploughboy Organics founder and Chairman of the Board, Suzanne DeVall, has created a break-through technology which transforms the tobacco plant into a renewable source of dyes and fibers for the apparel and home goods industries with the introduction of Avani Dyes from the Earth and Onatah Fibers.
This discovery allows non-toxic dyeing to be done on a large-scale commercial level yielding beautiful and striking colors. The dye process is low water and low temperature, reducing the amount of time and energy required to dye fabric over other natural dye methods.
Fiber sourced from the tobacco stalk and once considered field waste is now transformed into a spinnable antimicrobial material which blends beautifully and naturally with traditional organic fibers.
Ploughboy Organics’ mission and commitment is to sustainable agricultural practices and responsible manufacturing process from the field to the finished product.
A Message From the Founder
Greetings and welcome to the Ploughboy Organics website.
In 2009, I was in Antakya, Turkey, a region where small family farms grow organic crops. I was part of a group, on a fact finding mission, dedicated in determining a system that traces organically grown agriculture, primarily certified organic cotton— from seed to the finished product.
One day, I found myself standing in the middle of an organic tobacco field wondering if these plants might have any other purpose besides their intended use. Fast forward to 2012, that first spark of an idea has now become Ploughboy Organics, Inc., Avani Dyes, and Onatah Fibers. These product developments are the results of my patent pending technology, which is becoming a paradigm shift in textile fabrication and research.
I look forward to speaking to many of you at our upcoming trade show events. We can also answer email requests if would like to know more about this technology and how it will fit into your dyeing and or fiber programs.
